PSXVideo is well-known to be a good FMV converter which can convert any FMVs from a wide range of supported titles to AVI movies for computers. After the extraction you can do any extra processing (compression, editing, etc) on the AVIs for your purposes.

PLEASE NOTE: The author of PSXVideo has aborted the development of PSXVideo and now there is no official sites that you can download this software from. There are still some other download sites on the web, but since many of these PSXVideo downloads are hacked I will not post them on this page. A lot of PSXVideo download links can be found from the search engines.

PSXVideo does not support all PlayStation titles, especially the famous RPG Final Fantasy IX. With PsxMC this is no longer a problem! PsxMC officially supports FF9 and FF8 as well as some other titles. It works like PSXVideo by converting any FMVs on the game discs to AVI movies for computers. However please note that this program is designed for Japanese Windows and if you run it on any other versions of Windows, menu texts will not be displayed properly and you may have to figure out most of the program functions by trial-and-error.
Extracting FF9 FMVs is no longer a problem!
