Ayanami Rei, 14 years old, designated pilot of Eva-00, is a very quiet girl. She doesn't know how to express her emotions. Her past is mysterious. The only one who knows her well is Ikari Gendou. He treats her as if she was his daughter. She is referred to as "First Children"(the first qualifier).
